With a dim light in his forest and ocean landscapes, Lucas Arruda presents his small-format paintings with an impulse that diffuses his elements towards the edges. His generous layers of paint - sometimes scratched or brushed with the bristles of his brushes - often present suggestive aspects of his landscapes. In a subtle way, his clouds, horizons, sands and seas are interpellative, in a way that the movement and direction of the brushstrokes do not indicate where a given plan may begin or end.

In contrast to the noisy, urban landscapes he lives in, Arruda's landscapes evoke a free and non-human space. Generally with soft tones, the artist juxtaposes his colors with a clarity that emanates from the canvas. With an atmospheric painting that bears similarities to the work of great romantic painters such as William Turner at the turning point from the 18th to the 19th century, Arruda manages to work with the limits of perspective, bringing the viewer to an intimate and silent place.
