Habuba Farah's works, such as Cruzamento de luz [Light crossing] (1973), Cruzamento de luz em três dimensões [Light crossing in three dimensions] (1973) and Encontro dos ângulos de luz [Meeting of the angles of light] (1973), exemplify her investigation into geometry and color. The compositions are made up of grids of circles and squares that create visual effects of depth and chromatic vibration. The variations in hues - from yellow to green, passing through oranges - reveal his interest in the overlapping and transition of colors, which never appear isolated, but in constant dialogue.

These works reflect the development of so-called “lyrical geometric abstraction”, a concept associated with the artist since her contacts with Samson Flexor. From the 1960s onwards, Habuba incorporated curves, undulations and distortions of planes, creating compositions that alternated between more fluid and more rhythmic movements, depending on the interaction between form and color. The series from the 1970s, like the ones we see here, are some of the examples that further strain the relationship between structure and visual perception.
