Maria Lira Marques (b. 1946) is part of a long line of artists from Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais (Brazil), among whom are Isabel Mendes da Cunha, Noemisa Batista dos Santos, and Ulisses Pereira Chaves.
